This workshop has been attended by Chris Stokes (Music Producer and Film Director), Marques Houston (Recording Artist and Actor), and their team to gain fashion industry knowledge for their new high end line Christopher Brian Apparel, as well as Colin Egglesfield of All My Children for his Shout Out clothing line.
You will learn:
1. Business Aspects- How to start, structure, and form a working business plan, various options for your company structure, the proper licenses or registrations you will need. Learn how to get loans, financing, or grants, do's & don'ts of using your own money, and other helpful resources that will get the job done.
2. Developing and Opening Your Boutique- How to implement your boutique idea into an actual business. Learn how to find a location, location, location - what to look for, securing your lease, things you will need to open (fixtures, mannequins, bags, cash register, security system, merchant account, business insurance, etc) and how to get them. Learn about securing all of the relationships necessary to succeed, learn how to stock your store including how to buy inventory, what sizes/quantities you need, and not to over buy. Learn what to look for when hiring sales people, setting up policies, and more.
3. Developing and Creating Your Website- How to implement your idea for an online business into a viable shopping website, including what you need to know about the structure of a website so that it is shop worthy, how to have shopping carts and all of the options out there. Learn how to photograph items the best way, how to communicate to consumers - no matter your market - how to drive hits to your site, the importance of marketing, writing out your policies and all of the other aspects you will need to know in order to survive and thrive owning an online shopping website.
4. Marketing and Brand Identity- How to pick & register your business name, the importance of logos, signs, awnings, company image, and identity. Once you have that- how to target the right market based on what you are selling. Learn how to merchandise your store and website so they appeal to your customers & draws in new ones.
This 2 hour workshop is very thorough and intense, but is a fun place to network, meet, and learn. You will gain knowledge on all aspects of starting a fashion company. In fact, you will most likely not find all of this information in any one place. This workshop provides invaluable consolidated information based on experience that makes applying it extremely approachable.
