ABSTRACT A Europe-wide marketing survey showed that almost 30 percent of Dutch women in the 30 to 39 age group buy D cup or larger size bras (pregnant women included).
The cause is not clear, but presumably the Pill and hormones in food may cause the increase of larger bra-cup demand. It is difficult to explain why Dutch women wear bigger bras especially since Dutch women are not known for their large breasts. But if the latest bra sales figures are anything to go by, the nation is becoming better endowed. Even more slender women with a small waist purchase a D cup bra.
The marketing survey found an increase from 23.6 percent last year and 22.1 percent in 1999 of purchasing of D cup (or larger) by Dutch women. British women topped the list with 36.3 percent purchasing large-cup bras. Dutch women followed second and the Danish third. There is even a slight regional variance in bust size in northern and western part of The Netherlands; compared to the other regions, bosoms are larger in those parts of the country
Dutch retailers believe that if the trend continues, sales of D cup bras will surpass those of the C cup.
