Runway Trend Report - Colour - Winter 2007 Women RTW
Angie Hattingh

Black
The black of this season is serious without being too hard. Worn on its own, it projects a very straight forward, simple and sombre message, which is softened through it's medium; gentle chiffons, silks and linens. Deeply tinted darks add depth and variety to this sombre mood. The progression to evening adds reflection projecting the darkness outward.

Grey
We have come to realise that there is danger in extremes. The grey of this season speaks to our need for safety and balance. Very urban but warmed from the inside, the grey stretches it's reach from the edge of black to the beginning of silver. Soft wools and felt add to the sense of security.

Ecru
From the same influences as grey, but with a less urban feel, more environmental. Ecru and beige surround us like cocoons, protecting and comforting. The tones darken like skin to the richest brown. Textured fabrics like wool and felt and knits compliment this direction.

Retro Primary
The fun and playful part of our colour story. These primary colours are washed with nostalgia and toned with yellows. Reminiscent of family photos from the sixties - happy, naive, childlike. A reminder of an era when life was full of possibilities.
