The following biography contains information on Fashion Designer olivier theyskens.

BIOGRAPHY
Fashion Designer Olivier Theyskens was born in Brussels on 4 January 1977 to a Belgian father and French mother.
In October 1995, aged 18, he entered the design section of the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Visuels de la Cambre.
Two years later he abandoned his studies to launch his first collection in August 1997.

His spectacular collections, 9 to date, have rapidly forged his reputation as a designer acclaimed by the press and international fashion buyers alike. Riding the wave of success, he now designs for famous names that include Madonna, Melissa auf der Mauer of the Smashing Pumpkins, Jennifer Aniston or Nicole Kidman. He also takes part in numerous artistic events along the lines of the "Belgian Fashion Designers" exhibition at the Fashion Institute of Technology museum in New York.

In March 2003, he presents his first collection for Maison Rochas. In these fresh, delicate creations, he plays on themes and codes invented by Marcel Rochas - chantilly lace, pink, the distinction of evening gowns, the sober elegance of tailored suits - and adds his own modern touch with new volumes.
His respect for the traditions of French fashion coupled with his visionary eye are the ideal vehicle for the company's avowed determination to step up its activity in the fashion and luxury goods sector.

His pret a porter line will be retailed exclusively through the most influential department stores and fashion boutiques around the world, including Barney's New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neimann Marcus, Maxfield in Los Angeles, Joyce in Hong Kong, 10 Corso Como in Milan and Tokyo, Maria Luisa in Paris, Browns in London, Villa Moda in Kuwait, etc.

A leather goods and footwear line is also being developed to accessorize the pret ˆ porter collections.
In the medium term, this line will become a key vector in women's fashion by Maison Rochas.
The existing range of accessories such as watches, eyewear, ties, belts, scarves and jewellery will be reviewed and developed to harmonize with the pret a porter lines.
As from this year, the menswear line is manufactured and distributed under licence by four companies, including French company E.C.C.E.

Finally, a new interior decoration concept will be unveiled in June at the boutique in the rue Francois 1er in Paris.
A second Paris boutique is scheduled to open early in 2004.
